Frost and freeze warning tonight till 8am Wednesday..

With temps expected to dip to 30 tonight, freeze is a very big possibility for your early plantings. I know that some of us have had the itch and planted annuals or veggies early and now might lose them. What to do? Cover them with a few layers of newspaper. The ground is now radiating heat from the mid-day sun and using the paper will help hold that heat in and quite possibly save your plants. Remember to anchor them down so they don’t blow away, then remove them in the morning when the danger of frost has passed….

Dandelions an issue?

I keep my lawn high, about 4 inches and it is fed five times a year. This helps to keep it thick and green. This also keeps out the dandelions, clover and other weeds that thrive in weak grassy areas. If one pops up, I like hit it with my weed killer of preference…

Pre-emergent time now passing…….

SE Mich here…looks like air and soil temps have reached their prime and pre-emergent aspplication is a bit late. You can still get it down, but time is of the essence…
